Research: Film Poster analysis

I really like this poster from White House Down. It clearly displays who the main characters from the film are, Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum. They have also added in bits of the White House in the background with fire. This is eye-catching as it shows how the White House has been destroyed. The catchphrase is catchy. It references to how the White House has been destroyed. Also, all of the text is capitalised making it more catchy for the viewer. White House Down is mainly focused at teenagers to young adults.

I also really like this poster from Baby Driver. They have put pictures of all of the main characters all on one poster, this is catchy as there are many people to focus on. They have also added the names of the actors too. They have put a picture of a car chase, this is a good reference to the film as he is a getaway driver. The tagline for Baby Driver is also referred to the main character as he listens to music all the time. They have also inserted info about the production team. Baby Driver is aimed at teenagers to young adults.

Overall, both posters display themes from the films, White House Down showing the destruction of the White House and Baby Driver showing a car chase. They are both aimed to attract the same age range. They both also have their main characters on the poster, followed by their names.

Text designs

These are the fonts I have chosen as a possible font for my poster. I think the best suited fonts are either the Deathrate or Defused. I believe that Deathrate could be a good font because it could represent how the character has gone mental and how bad their situation is. Also, Defused is a good font because it can represent the action genre very well but also show how broken the character is as it has broken bits coming off it.

Colour scheme

From these action film posters, I can see that the designers have used vibrant colours to attract people to watch it and also it makes the film seem interesting. If they had a poster with dull colours on it, people wouldn't be interested in the film. All of these posters have weapons on them, the mission impossible one has an explosion. This makes it easy for the public to recognise what genre of film it is.

My chosen colour scheme is probably the one at the top of the 6 choices. I like this one the most because I think it will suit the genre and it will fit the poster as it is about a death in the family, which could be represented by the black and grey, and the guy kills someone so the red could represent the blood.
